E coli's bodyguard

Let's face it, E. coli is pretty sensitive to about everything, so it is reasonable to think it should get a bodyguard to protect it. Deinococcus radidurans is resistant to a high load of radioactivity...but relatively weak in terms of temperature...more than E. coli.
