1. The Growth Curve

This cartoon shows the typical growth curve for microorganisms in batch mode, in which in the beginning we have low consume of the available food with discrete growth...because microorganisms "are still thinking if they are going to eat that". Then, when cells are comfortable in the media they start to consume it and replicate...sorry, I mean, partying hard and consuming the nutrients (exponential phase). At a given point, the food is scarce and cells, now in high number, have to learn how to live with the little they have (stationary phase)...but still...they will eventually die...in the death phase (not represented, because... it is sad)!
