Note: Electroporation is the torture technique used to make the bacteria incorporate the plasmid DNA with inserts. In this technique brief electrical pulses are given to the media containing the competent cells, creating transient pores in their plasma membrane that allows to transport inside the cells, portions of recombinant DNA from other organisms.
